In an interview with iFMagazine, Erwin Stoff, who has worked on movies such as The Matrix and A Scanner Darkly, said the following:

“I’m developing COWBOY BEBOP for Fox, but doing it as a live-action film, so I’m working on that at the moment,” Stoff tells iF. “I’m really excited to be working on it, and it’s in the really early stages. We just signed it the other day.”

The good news is that Stoff has promised to be as faithful to the original series as possible, quote:

“I have such an enormous admiration for its creators, that our first and foremost concern is going to be a real degree of faithfulness to the tone of the movie, to the mix of genres, and so on and so forth,” he says. “When I met with them in Japan, one of the first things that I brought up was the experience that we had on A SCANNER DARKLY, and how hard we worked to remain faithful to Philip K. Dick, and that was our big concern here.”

Anyone want to make some guesses as to who will be cast for the roles of Spike, Jet, Faye, and Ed?

Baccano!

For the last week members of the AnimeOnDVD forums have been talking about the possibility of the series being licensed by FUNimation, and these rumors were confirmed today with the launch of the official FUNimation website for the series which can be found at:

http://funimation.com/baccano/

Currently the website is streaming the first episode of the series, and the password to access it is ‘Flying Pussyfoot’.  The episode is subbed, so we will need to wait to see what kind of a job they do with the voice acting.

If you haven’t checked out Baccano! then now would be a great opportunity! Don’t worry if the first episode seems a little weird, continue watching and hopefully you will see that it’s a really great series.

Firstly, Odex will now be showing anime on MediaCorp’s Arts Central TV channel. In a joint statement released, the companies said that this will be the only terrestrial television channel in the world (outside of Japan) where anime episodes are broadcast the same week as they premiere in Japan.

In addition, a new online anime channel dubbed ‘Anime Trix’ will be made available through MediaCorp’s video-on-demand site MOBTV.sg. The new channel should be online July 21st (i.e. today!), and will cost S$10 per month for access.

Below is a list of series airing on the different channels:

Geisha Tokyo Entertainment Inc. have just announced a new product based on the technology which they have called ‘Dennoh Figure ARis‘, or ‘Cyber Figure Alice‘ in English.

Basically how it works is that you are provided with a black and white block. You then point your webcam at said block, and when you boot up the software it will overlay an image of a 3D maid standing on top of the block. You are then free to interact with the 3D model using real world objects; in this case you can use a stick to peep at, touch, and change the clothing of the maid. It’s perverted, but also pretty cool ^^.
